Glendon Place Tulipa Tulip Mandala

Tulipa is the genus name for the breathtaking Tulip and is actually a bulbous herb in the lily family (Liliaceae).

Tulips are among the most popular of all garden flowers, and are commonly large, showy and bright in color. They have been cultivated in a variety of different color combinations. The name tulip has been thought to be derived from a Persian word for turban. They flower in the spring and then become dormant, once the flowers and leaves die back, only to return again the following spring.

Tulipa is the seventh release in the Floral Mandala Collection from Glendon Place.

General Information: Stitched using 2 threads of floss over 2 threads of fabric. A total of 17 colors
(20 skeins) of Dinky-Dyes hand-dyed silk floss, 5 colors of Mill Hill Beads, and 6 colors of Sullivans floss were used in the model.

NOTE: Due to the number of Dinky-Dyes Silk Floss colors required for this design, I have provided Sullivans/DMC/and Anchor comparable colors to make stitching this design more affordable. However, it is very important to keep in mind that Dinky-Dyes Silks are variegated in color, some more than others. Although color comparables are provided in other floss lines (Sullivans/DMC/and Anchor), these are “best match” alternatives.

Fabric: Stitched on 28ct Antique White Jobelan by Wichelt Imports.

Stitch Area: 200w X 200h

Design Area: 14” X 14”. Purchasing a fat quarter will work sufficiently but will only allow 2” of selvage on the right and left sides. The model was stitched using a fat quarter and there was plenty of selvage for framing.
